Book two in the series The Selection is called The Elite. This is because the girls are now called the Elite. The last six. Time to get serious.
Thirty-five girls. It all started with thirty-five girls. America can not really believe that she is part of the six Elite. Alright, on one hand she can not believe it and on the other hand she can.
Prince Maxon knows what he wants and does everything to get it. He has to keep his appearance up, keep all the girls safe and handle the struggling America.
America needs time. Just some more time to decide where her heart truly lies. Maxon and a fairy tale? Or her first love, Aspen?
America: America starts to feel that Maxon will eliminate her. She can not give him what he wants, yet. When she does something crazy to help a friend, she becomes even more trouble. America keeps upsetting the king and he wants her gone. But her relationship with Maxon keeps growing, thanks to some dangerous activities.
Maxon: Maxon has to make a choice. He grows closer to all the girls, except America. He is ashamed and does not want to face her, even though he really wants to see her. When America discovers his secret, they become closer again and does everything to keep her in the competition. He keeps one secret that can cost him his life, but he does it for America.
Marlee: Marlee has a secret that can costs her her life. This secret is why she takes distance from America. When her secret gets in the open, she gets punished and eliminated from the competition. This gets America is bigger problems again.
Aspen: Aspen tries everything to show his love
There are a LOT more characters, but you will get to know them enough in the book and they won’t make your decision to read it easier. And then we would be here for a few days.
If you read my review for the first book, you know that I am not the biggest fan of romance book. Give me some action and I like the book more.
This book gave me some action and romance at the same time. This made the book really enjoyable for me.
It is not my favorite series, but I did not expect that. (My favorite stays Throne of Glass) When I started this series, I knew it was for fun and not to get a new favorite. And it worked.
I loved reading it and the few hours I spend on it where nice and relaxing. This is one of those books that you can just read in one time and escape your (crappy) life for a while.
I started to love America more and more. She knows what she wants and I really appreciate that. Maxon also started to get my interest a bit. I did not like him in the start of the book, though. You will get why.
But the thing he does to win the heart of America is just amazing. It is a thing we wish every guy would do. Well, we rather not, because it means losing a friend first. But you get what I mean.
The whole series is a great way to escape reality for a bit and it is very easy to keep reading it. (Or just difficult to put away)
Would you sign up for the selection?
